Giclée Prints - Archival quality fine-art papers and canvas
About Giclee Printing: The Definition : Giclee (zhee-klay) - The French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray or a spurt of liquid. The word may have been derived from the French verb "gicler" meaning "to squirt". Giclée print is the "art gallery" term for inkjet prints. Inkjet printing describes the technique by which a computer printer deposits millions of tiny jets of ink on a surface to print an image. The term "giclee print" connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
Note: All gallery fugi-crystal achive quality prints are numbered and back printed with copyright/anti-reproduction warning stamped. All giclee canvas print are numbered and signed, as well as delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

What is Laser-light printing?
The LightJet® is a digital enlarger. It takes a digital file and uses laser light to expose traditional photographic paper for normal processing. Theoretically, any photographic paper could be used and the LightJet could be programmed for it. However, our labs using Fuji Crystal Archive paper for printing. This a color negative printing paper processed in normal RA-4 chemistry and as such, is easier to control and work with than Ilfochrome. It's imaging characteristics are similar to Ilfochrome in some respects. It has very high color saturation which, with the added control afforded by digital imaging techniques, can produce prints equal to or greater than those produced from exposing film through traditional enlargers, whatever the papers involved.
Protection of your prints is important: The material surface we selected for our artwork is-glossy and slightly more expensive and, like Ilfochrome more easily scratched.
Summary: What is the value and quality of my prints?
Our Giclée prints have a lushness due in part to the wonderful papers and canvas they are made on. They have a tonal and textural quality unmatched in photographic papers. Our Figi Crystal Archival Photographic papers, however, have a degree of saturation and a look to them that watercolor papers can't match. For the more traditional photographic look, choose a print on Fuji Crystal Archive. Our Gallery Print Double Sided Rag is a true 100% rag archival paper with a smooth finish that is coated on both sides of the sheet.
Remember, the same Master Image file we have prepared for the LightJet output is made into a giclée print, and vice versa. Lucky you-you can choose one or the other, or all three!
